KALAA Yoga Ausbildung Testimonial André

“After a 200-hour training in traditional Hatha Yoga, I consciously chose KALAA with its Vinyasa focus. It allowed me to significantly expand my teaching repertoire, but most importantly, my own practice. I regularly reached my limits and went beyond them. The 300-hour training at KALAA has accompanied me for over a year in the most intense moments of life. The yoga practice remains always present throughout the structure of the course and is excellent to combine with everyday life. All the teachers have contributed in a great way to the comprehensive training that has had a lasting effect on me. Thank you very much.”

KALAA Yoga Ausbildung Testimonial Katalin

“I completed my 200-hour Vinyasa Yoga teacher training at KALAA Yoga Berlin in 2019/20. After graduating I decided to continue studying and hence I was part of the 300-hour “Advanced Vinyasa and restorative practices” training. The course was delivered with passion and professionalism by Manu and Stefanie and the international guest teachers. I really enjoyed the opportunities to teach each other, give and get feedback from other yoga teachers, go deeper into my research topic and present it back to my peers. Since I finished the training I regularly teach at KALAA as well as in Hungary, my homeland.”

KALAA Yoga Ausbildung Testimonial Jan

“The decision for the 300-hour KALAA Yoga training was already made when I finished my 200-hour training in 2017 with Manu and Stefanie. I was delighted that there free spot for me in fall of 2020. The two have accompanied me in my own yoga practice for several years. They impart their profound knowledge of movement, philosophy, anatomy and the holistic system with an infectious, lively enthusiasm and collaborate with great guest lecturers. During the really intensive weekends there was enough space to individually refine one’s own teaching practice and to try out and exchange ideas. I found it very stimulating that the history of yoga and current developments were discussed critically and openly. Many thanks to KALAA and the other participants for the extraordinarily enriching experiences and the intensive time at the training.”

KALAA Yoga Ausbildung Testimonial Uli

“With the 300-hour training at KALAA Yoga Berlin, a journey into yoga has begun for me, which has deepened and enriched my knowledge and practice very much. I have gained a lot of insights to be able to adjust to my students as a yoga teacher even more confidently and flexibly. An intuitive trust in myself as someone who is aware of the responsibility it brings to pass on the teachings of yoga and to do so with joy and ease.“

Uli, KALAA Yoga Trainee 2020/2021
KALAA Yoga Ausbildung Testimonial Katharina

“The 300-hour training at KALAA Yoga Berlin was perfect! The content was very exciting and definitely went beyond the usual. Especially inspiring for me was the thorough introduction to the “Somatic Practice” and the ingeniously conveyed yoga philosophy as well as the creativity in sequencing, which now allows me to make my yoga classes even more varied. I found the gradual structure of the advanced Asanas helpful, allowing me to teach mixed classes in a meaningful way for all participants. The critical examination of uncomfortable but important topics such as exclusion or violence in the beautiful yoga world was particularly remarkable.
The challenges posed by the pandemic were met with great resourcefulness, so that the training could take place as planned. The learning atmosphere was excellent, the interaction with each other cordial and cooperative. Thank you very much for the great time!”

Manuela Baerndt Yoga Somatics Berlin

Manuela Berndt started her yoga practice as a professional dancer and choreographer. Mary

Mary McDermott, BSc. R.Y.T. 500, is a longtime student and teacher of yoga and contemplative practices. In her instruction she gracefully blends physical intensity, detailed alignment, and reflective inquiry.

Much of Mary’s inspiration stems from her studies with Tias Little (Prajna Yoga), Baron Baptiste (Baptiste Power Yoga) and Ana Forrest (Forrest Yoga). She holds teaching certificates from all of these schools and advanced teaching certificates from both Prajna Yoga and Forrest Yoga. Thai Yoga Massage Therapy, Life Coaching, Mind and Brain Studies and Yoga for Transforming Trauma also feature in Mary’s training history and are amongst her applicable skills.

Over a period of 10 years Mary cultivated a yoga community in Saudi Arabia. She has fostered students in the Middle East, Germany and Ireland and is a member of the teaching faculty of Spirit Yoga, Berlin.

Mary is currently a full time student of Master Healer, Dr. & Master Zhi Gang Sha. She considers this to be a pinnacle of learning and practice in a life of seeking and exploring healing approaches and modalities. Where appropriate, Mary introduces Master Sha’s work in her yoga classes and training programs.

Alan and Marie

Marie Hallager Andersen & Alan O’Leary

Marie Hallager Andersen is a professional dancer, artist and yoga teacher. She has accomplished 4 years of training and guidance from the esteemed Ashtanga Yoga teacher Joey Miles in Leeds. In her yoga and teaching practice she is not dogmatic and enjoys spreading into Yin Yoga, Hatha Yoga, Restorative Yoga and Vinyasa Flow. Since 2008, she has shared her knowledge and taught both beginners and practitioners. Her yoga teaching has been greatly influenced by her dance improvisation practice and other somatic practices such as Feldenkrais and Skinner Releasing technique. Marie is also a certified life coach and facilitator in Liz Lerman’s Critical Response Process, which forms part of her work.

Alan O’Leary is Professor of Film and Cultural Studies at the University of Leeds. He has been practicing Ashtanga Yoga for twenty years and trained as a teacher with Brian Cooper of Union Yoga. He has studied with many respected teachers, including Lino Miele, Hamish Hendry and for several years with Joey Miles. He visited Mysore in 2003 to study at the Ashtanga Yoga Research Institute.
Alan believes that a practice should be for life and so that an individual’s practice has to evolve with age and as life circumstances change. He prefers to teach self-practice because it empowers the practitioner, ideally making them their own best teacher. He teaches with an attention to technical detail but with an equal attention to joy!
